Keep it Simple, Stupid: The Secret to Successful Bid Writing

I don't know about you, but I've ready a LOT of academic journals and industry-specific articles in my time. The pieces that stick with me are the ones I didn't need to re-read because of complex sentence-structure; or the ones that didn't require a google search to understand specific words.
However, during my time in this industry, I've come to observe that many bid writers spend too much time trying to look clever, and not enough time presenting information as concisely and as readable as possible.
The secret to bid writing success really is pretty simple...
Use as little jargon as possible
Be objective and offer numerical data where possible
Present information as simply as possible
Don't 'pad out' or waffle to simply look more intelligent
There it is, how to write a successful bid.
Now, of course there are nuances. There are times where industry-specific jargon may be required. But on the whole, if you keep it simple; structure the bid in a way that makes it easier for the evaluator to follow; and utilise diagrams and images to convey a point, you're going to do well over the long-term.
That's it!
See what I did there? I've kept the blog nice and concise, while getting everything I wanted out.
Do this when writing your next bid.
